Dear Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal,
Below is a critical message from Hans Bennett, co-editor of Free Mumia News and leading advocate for Mumia's freedom.
Hans' note is followed by a detailed article by Jeff Mackler, Director of the Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal in California, on the significance of the U.S. Supreme Court's deliberations in the Ohio case of Smith v. Spisak. The court did rule against Spisak this week and will now hear Pennsylvania's appeal which aims at executing Mumia. The…

Save Marcus Books!! @sfnatives tweets an open plea! We feel passionately about this...This is an "immediate emergency plea" for help to save the oldest black book store in America based in San Francisco and Oakland, CA. As a native of San Francisco we just recently heard about this unfortunate news that MARCUS BOOKS is in foreclosure, the victim of a sub-prime loan scam and ponzi scheme.
An auction is schedu…

Men who are in earnest are not afraid of consequences. Marcus Garvey
I know that our President is an earnest man. I realize that he is being pressured on every side, in and every way possible. From the moment he was elected men and women of means laid down money on how long he would live as he held office. Conservative right Christians’ tea baggers step things up from the days when men and women decided they would dump British Tea bags to protest being governed by King George. American protestor…

It appears the Democrats have painted themselves into a corner with this issue of filling Obama's Senate seat. I'm thinking they are going to 'blink' and add him to the Senate. Afterall, the governor is still the governor until removed from office in some way. The appointment may be tainted but it is an appointment by a sitting governor. What do you think?
